Felix Research Laboratories was founded by Andreas Gabriel in 2004.

After working for 11 years in various positions within New Zealand’s public research institutes Andreas realised that New Zealand needed a place where industry could go to and get things done. That means primarily staying competitive by obtaining actual, relevant and meaningful results. Moving forward with confidence!

Andreas Gabriel is an industrial chemist with over 20 years experience in the areas of surface coatings, metals and corrosion.

He started out in his native Germany working in process and quality control at an industrial surface treatment plant whilst studying.

Andreas holds a MSc (1st class hons.) in Polymers and Coatings Science from the University of Auckland.

We see our role primarily as a technical services provider in the areas of corrosion, UV degradation, general weathering degradation and more specialised subtopics thereof. Naturally our services have expanded over the years into other areas such as failure investigations and consulting services, if it falls within our area of expertise.  

There is nothing wrong with having an opinion, but the hard technical decisions that leaders in industry often have to make are made much easier when having a set of test results to base it on.
